| Overcast, still and flat. |
Flat now. Looking for some waves this weekend. |
Flatness drags on in South Florida, meanwhile upcoast continues to have one of their best summers in recent history. I'm hoping this will soon end (for us), but it's hard to say. Your best bet is to hop in the car for an hour or two drive for gauranteed waves. Hopefully next week .... |

Light E breeze making it a little more bearable down on the sand, but not in the ocean. Flat and looking to stay that way for a while longer. |
The dog days of summer ... | Hmmm ... lets just say not much has changed since yesterday at this time .... |

T.D. 10 died an untimely death last night. RIP. Nothing brewing. Nothing doing. |
Got a little bit of everything going on out there ... sun, rain, clouds ... more sun, but there's one thing gauranteed, you can leave your board at home. Also, got a maybe something going on early next week with a tropical wave nearing our coast. At least, I'm hoping it will kick up the wind. At the end of next week, long range models show 3 possible hurricanes coming of Africa, but that's still a little far out. Change is soon to come! | I think we've all just about reached our breaking point by now. It's flat. It's been flat and most likely going to stay that way for the forseeable future. This is my fifth year at sc.com and looking back in August's history for rideable days is an adventure in itself. Face it, August just sucks, but on the positive side, it's also just about over. Just try to stay sane and in shape for August, August and surf season is just around the corner. |

| Flat. Last night I ventured back into the slippery catacombs of SFS (now updated) to confirm my theory that August is traditionally the flatest month of the year. Although hurricane season begins to ramp up in August, most assume June or July are the flatest months, but for the most part, unless there's something tropical brewing, the wind is completely snuffed in August. There is no holding back the month that follows! September tears loose - it fires! September through November are the most surfed months of the year, with almost every other day being rideable .... several days (weeks) of hurricane swell, the beginnings of winters lows and a very heavy dose of power chop. So, Days of Surf Past is hereby shifting forward to September, focusing on what will soon be ours .... SURF!!!!!! | Flat. | Summer flatness hereby ends today. Nothing going now but that is soon to change ... |

Best session of the year. Drove up the road a bit to a very popular break, which happened to be not so popular this morning. Until 7am it was breaking only about waist high, then someone hit the switch. Consistent chest high to head + sets every 10 minutes or so. Only a handful of guys out. Great waves until storms came in around 9ish and shredded it. Headed back home where its solid waist to plus now and very very fun. Really no wind and surf keeps picking up. Bridges due to close at noon, so if you're going to hit it, get on it now. OH, my pics suck. Sorry ... 5PM Update: INASANE!!!!!! Eye wall hitting now. Never, ever have I ever seen anything like this and it's just a CAT 1!. Triple head high waves. Can't believe we still have power. Pics of this afternoon local, before it broke loose. |
Power finally back up! This afternoon's waves were on the beat side, particularly when comparing them to yesterday. SSE wind still on it and there will be surf in da AM. Pics of Saturday afternoon. | SE wind is blowing right along at 15 to 20+. SE power slam chop sandwich is the today's chef's special. Solid waist high to chest + on the sets. Don't even think of whining. Remember, it was flat for over two months. Go surf! |

SE continues to blow at 10 to15 mph producing marginally rideable thigh high surf. This should continue through the day and probably into tomorrow as well. Although the gulf coast is getting some sizeable, soon to be massive surf, surf is not the focus. Cat 4 or 5 will absolutely devastate one of my favorite cities (hence SC). 19 feet below sea level, and a culture that just doesn't move fast. Please let this not happen .... |
Unrideable this morning and will probably remain that way until the next storm marches our way. Looks as if the Big Easy may have been spared a ground zero hit. It's still not going to be pretty and Mississsippi will get wrecked. We got beat on pretty bad in Broward (heard some rebel had 3 boards blown out of the back of his truck driving A1A when she came ashore) and it was barely even a Cat I. Can't even fathom what these people are and will be going through. | Light N breeze and no surf. Nice morning for a run, but that's about it. |
