December 03

Waist to chest high SE wind swell. Maybe a little leftover for Saturday morning before going flat, then again, maybe not. Hit it today!

Chop died overnight. Now 10mph E wind and not amounting to much. New wave of chop to begin next week. For now, we have the weekend off.

Ditto yesterday ... unrideable. Wind will pick up again on Monday.

Go fins!!!

December 4 December 5 December 06

Flat and cooler. Wind should pick up tonight for 2 days of chop.

South Florida Surf has been updated !!!

Coming Soon: ShrimpCreole expands to NE FL ....

Knee to thigh and a few plus swell. Hunt and you will find.

Better, but not much better, than it looks. Knee to thigh high swell under chop.

December 07 December 08 December 09

Unrideable. Stong cold front coming through tonight. 4 to 5 days of heavy NE chop to begin late tomorrow. Shuttle to blast off tonight!

Thigh to waist high swell, which I missed because I slept in like a dumb ass. Hit it before the insanity starts.

Check back for pics from Chris.

Why I slept in yesterday and woke up this morning, I just don't know. After checking several local breaks, went for a pineapple picking session, but the characteristically fickle break was doing it's fickle thing. So, came home dry. There's waves, but there's also a serious drift, and it's definitely not looking fun.

December 10 December 11 December 12

Due to lack of crew interest and lack of personal desire for a solo power slop session, no surf pics this AM. Wind really picked up again after midnight last night. Looking easily chest high with possibly less drift.

Go fins!!!!

Waist to chest with bigger sets. I would of all most went out even with the low tide close outs. The hundreds of MOWS on the beach sealed the deal. NO SURF FOR ME!!!

Knee to waist and ugly looking with the low tide. The MOW situation is still out of control. There was a professional idiot out there sizing them up.

Shrimp dropping in from Miramar Beach where the water is cold, but the wind swell continues for a third day in the thigh to waist plus range (bottom row).

December 13 December 14 December 15

Wind chop leftovers. Knee to thigh. Wind has settled down to the 10 to 15 mph where it will stay for the rest of the week. So, marginally rideable surf will continue on.

Rainy with light unrideable chop. Maybe later in the week. Maybe.

Today just has that "should've been here yesterday afternoon" look to it. I hope you were, because I sure wasn't. Completely unrideable, but should pick-up over the weekend.

December 16 December 17 December 18

Absolute flatness. No wind. On and off rain. Maybe later tomorrow. Monday and Tuesday look good for chop.

SE wind has picked up surf to the knee to plus rideable range. We will have chop all of next week.

The wind took a three day weekend, and will not pick up over the 15mph range until tonight, and then should hold for the rest of the week. Right now, barely rideable and you're going to have to hunt it down to find some. Best bet is to wait 24 hours.

December 19 December 20 December 21

The wind never did pick up last night. Unrideable for now. Maybe tomorrow.

If my whole family hadn't gotten the bug that's going around, I'd be out surfing this morning.   Looks very fun in the waist plus range.   Wind will pick up even more today, and we should have surf the rest of the work week.  Look for session update from Chris later....

Waist high plus chop with a moderate S drift.  Should stick around another day or two before slowing down over the weekend.

December 22 December 23 December 24

Gnarly thigh to waist high chop.   Today is all she wrote.  So, if you want some get it while it lasts.

SE leftovers early on.  Unrideable now.   Santa may be a day late this year, but better late than never.   Make sure you get out and get your shopping done.   No surf / family maintenance.

Flat and unseasonably warm.   Change will soon come.  Time to enjoy time with the family!
December 25 December 26 December 27

Merry Christmas everyone!   There's rideable SE wind swell for the taking, and the kites on it.   Cold front to pass through this afternoon.

The Godfather is dead.   Major bummer.  I always wanted to see him in concert.  Never will ....

Flat and drizzly.   I'm sure an epic swell will be rolling in about 40  minutes from now ....

We should have waves all week.

Swellettes rolling up on the beach.  Cold and not yet rideable.  I would keep an eye on it.   I think we'll have something later on today, maybe even in a few hours.

December 28 December 29 December 30
Unrideable leftovers.   Hope you were one of the lucky few who caught it yesterday.  Maybe some chop tomorrow. Unrideable now, but wind will continue to increase to the 15 to 20 mph range, and hold through the extended weekend.

Waist to chest high chop.  Much better than it looks.  No one else but us are out there skinning it in the middle of the winter!

December 31

Beware, the above pics are very misleading. The waves were there, but the high tide was holding it back (and, of course, not everyone surfs like Anarchy).  For me, the last session of the year was a painful one.   I got nailed by a MOW in a way that hasn't happened for years.  The sucker set up camp on my lower back, wrapped my right arm and wouldn't let go.  Just not a pretty picutre.  But nothing a few Benadryl and a cold Beast can't knock down.

As I say every year, be smart with your partying tonight.   Live to surf another day, or at least, drive your car and not peddle your bike to the break tomorrow.
