February 03

Words are hard to come by in times like this. To me, our space program epitomizes you, me, our country and what makes the United States so special. Thank you Columbia crew for risking your lives, making us proud. You are heros and will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sunny & beautiful. Light and unrideable chop. New pics return tomorrow AM.

I may be nuts, but I swear there's a shin to knee high swell. Mostly breaking on the beach, occasionally breaking on the mid-break a little S of my place.

Yet another sunny, flat snowbird filled day. Check Jan & Feb '02 in surf history. South Florida had a dismal / summer-like period around this time last year (actually the whole month of Jan. blew), before things fired up. Don't sweat it, surf will return.

Glassy flat, overcast, no surf

Light chop and diminishing NE wind. May have been rideable knee high chop in some spots this morning.New DofSP featuring a session one year ago tomorrow at my old break in Boca. L shot of some random local in funny wannabe lifegaurd shorts. L & R of the SALSA President doing his Monster thing.

More of the same - still, light unrideable chop and warm. Looks as if the trend will continue through the weekend. Maybe something early to mid next week.

Cooler. Drier. Still no surf. Light 10+ E wind. Maybe kiteable.

10PM update: Knee plus high wind swell. Looking very rideable. If it continues, AM looking good to go.

No surf here, just an incredible beach day. Kites setting up. SW wind @ 10 - 15. On a day like today, the beach is the only place to be.

Spring like conditions continue. Stop the madness! I can't take it much longer .... Cooler. Light North breeze. No swell. No chop. Another beautiful beach day.

OK, lets just skip over today ... same 'ole sunny sunny dry waveless Florida perfection crap we've had for the past couple weeks. It's time for this shrimp to de-crust! LIQUID, Danno, Anarchy - The Cat, Top Shelf the coffee is on me. Thursday session is on! An epic knee to thigh high local chop session is on tap. Friday, maybe even thigh plus ... imagine that! Woo hoo ... chop chop chop chop ....

Feb 12, 8am update: just got a call from LIQUID ADDICTION pulling out of Miami on board a 60' Hatteras en route to the Keys. Knee to thigh to bigger swell! Presently, in my backyard, small max knee high swell breaking on the beach (see middle pic).

Abandoned morning session. Wind slowly picking up from the NE, but not even close to rideable. Still looking good for Friday chop. Another abandoned session. Wind did not start kicking in until this morning, NE @ 15. Not rideable at the moment. Give it a couple more hours and there should be something to play on.

Flat But Changes to Come........... Looking for swell and rideable surf? Look elsewhere. South Florida is not your place this morning. Not even a glimmer of hope in the backyard. Light W wind. No waves.
February 19 February 20 February 21
Foggy with light unrideable chop. Weekend forecast looking real good. Flat. Warm. Spring showers. Light chop. MOWs on the beach. Nothing rideable ... yet. If the marine forecast holds, surf is due to return for, at least, the weekend.
February 22 February 23 February 24

AM session with LIQUID ADDICTION and Anarchy, The Cat. Knee or less rideable wind chop. Wind is just now starting to pick up. Presently, SE @ 15+. Should be waves all weekend. Will update several times throughout the day.

1:30pm update: Strong SE wind @ 20+. Kiteboards everywhere.

Must have been epic ... at 3am. Went wave hunting with Liquid this AM. Not even small gave to be had. NW wind @ 15. Clean ankle high scraps. Go back to bed, or stay up have a beer and reminisce about the good days of Dec & Jan.

Caught some fun thigh plus waves this AM with LIQUID and Chris. Was having a blast until I decided to run my board into the pier. A classic moment. Wind blowing NE @ 15+. Catch some!

February 25 February 26 February 27

Set up right this AM with a sweet LIQUID ADDICTION LB. Of course, I had to promise I wouldn't take any lefts after yesterday's stunt. Never trust a crusty shrimp.... surf was much like yesterday morning. Thigh plus, but dying out. Wind NE @ 10+. Maybe better at low tide, if it sticks around.
