| Ditto yesterday, just add a little fog to the picture. Nothing in the rideable range until maybe mid-week. Looking back into the southfloridasurf.com archives, January typically isn't the best Winter month for surf. Although, three years back provided one of the most memorable sessions. Wind blew hard all New Year Eve and then stopped a few hours before first light. The early bird scored! By 8am the party was over. Pics above are over LIQUID ADDICTION slaughtering it! |
SE breeze nearing the rideable range. |
Foggy and flat. |

Ankle high swell washing up the beach like a dead fish. Yet another skunk. Looking very hopeful for later in the week.
|
Flat and cooler. According to NOAA the skunk may have sprayed any hope of Friday morning surf. Weekend still looks up. |
What could be the strongest cold front of the season is rolling through now. Strong W wind is blowing down what little swell rolling in. Every 15 minutes a thigh high set will break, but the rideable sets are few and far between. This is another one of those "it should happen" scenarios, and I think this one will pan out. Keep an eye on those cams! |

| That dumb ass early bird should have trusted his instincts, and turned off the alarm, pulled the sheets over his head and slept in this morning. No worms to be had. Unrideable from Delray to N. Broward with all points checked. Actually better the further S you go. W/o anything better to do, I went for a run on the beach. About every 15 minutes a barely rideable knee high swell would break, but even if it was summertime, I'm not sure if I would have paddled out. This winter bites! |
Looks as if we might have some mid-week wind chop. Doesn't look as good as it did last night, but we'd take just about anything at this point. At home, cold with residual skunkage. Completely unrideable. |
Not rideable now but will be soon enought. E wind @ 10 to 15 and should pick up to 15 to 20 overnight. I think we'll take just about anything at this point. Get wet! |

| Thigh to plus chop. Pretty fun and much better than it looks. Worth satisfying your wave jonz on. What the heck, go get wet ... |
Flat again. |
Today is Shrimpday of the 38th variety. Celebrations will be held at all of Shrimp's favorite breaks featuring inverse swell machines (an Shrimp invention featured at 35th Shrimpday whereby large fans are installed creating an enormous W wind and head high chop 75 yds out breaking out to sea and at times a refraction swell), clowns in arabic garb (desert theme), and a petting zoo for the kids featuring elephants, camels and lamas. It's flat ... |

Flat with hope. Cold front coming through later today. W winds tonight and tomorrow moving NW Saturday night. We could have something later this weekend. |
Sunny, cool with gale force NW wind. Ankle high swell beginning to show, but not yet rideable. Keep your fingers crossed and watch those cams. |
Finally! Head high wobbly swell from N. Broward county on up. Go surf!!!!! LIQUID ADDICTION has returned from Jamaica with some killer pics. Check them out! |

Solid waist to chest with overhead bombs just a few minutes up the road. Tide beginning to have its way with it, but well worth the trip. Go surf now! |
Never trust a NOAA forecast. The 10 to 15 SE forecasted blew 15 to 20 last night, and once again, I "blew" it. Very fun waist high SE wind chop out there. Don't know how long it will last. The wind should shift around to the west then back to the NE later this week, but we should have more rideable surf than not. |
West wind with clean thigh to plus SE lines. If you got the time, it might be worth a go before the wind comes around. |

Would've, should've but have no-shows as friends, so didn't. Can't really say I missed much though. There's a consistent knee to thigh swell getting smashed by 15 to 20 mph ENE wind, and the wind is not giving up much in the way of rideable chop. BUT, still rideable. If you have time, I'd wait for this afternoon. |
Thigh high and dumping at low tide. Early bird passed on breakfast. | More thigh plus rideable chop. Should continue for another day. Charge it! |

Sorry about another day of worthless photos of waves with no one on them. Drove down to the local break and sat in the car for 20 minutes without anyone of the core crew showing. Can't even get old staples, such as the owner of my favorite surf shop, to show anymore??? Anyhow, waist to probably chest, and very rideable. Wind is forecast to die later today, so grab some for me ... |
Nice beach day and that's about it no. No waves. Maybe in a couple days. |

| Flat and cooler. N wind just beginning to pick up. Perhaps rideable chop by this evening.
|
The 15 to 20 NE wind just never materialized. In its place was a light off-shore breeze and very consistent waist high swell with chest high sets. That was until the sun popped, then the N wind kicked in and the swell became not so consistent. Grab it now before it becomes full-on chop. |
Here yesterday / gone today. |

| Please excuse my lameness in not updating until now, but there's a good excuse. I had surgery on my nose (deviated septum) yesterday, so I've been pretty looped up until now. Unfortunately, I'm dry for the next few weeks. Tomorrow or Monday, I'll get out again and snap pics of the crew. Until then, pics of empty / neglected waves. Conditions now are up to head high full-on power chop. Be safe and go grab a few for me. It should stick around for the next 24 to 48 hours. |
Wind has back off to 10 - 15 with higher gusts. Looking pretty fun out there right now. Times a wasting ... jump on it now, before it goes flat. | Wind still SE @ 10 to 15 mph with maybe a rideable S wind swell. It will clock around to the SW and then to the N over the next 24 hours with the advancing cold front. |
