March 03

Light breeze, but just not enough for surf.  It's hard to say if it's going to pick up enough to be rideable, at least until late this weekend.

WEIGHTS FOR SALE (Photos / Description) !!!!!

Rideable S. swell dying out fast.   Hope you caught some.   I didn't ...

Flat!    Tomorrow things will change ....

WEIGHTS FOR SALE, $399, now $350 (Photos / Description) !!!!!

March 4 March 5 March 06

Flat! now and difficult to say what to expect.   Keep an eye on it!

Skunk-a-rise!

This weekend's cold front was on big dud.  Unrideable.  Maybe / maybe not rideable later.

March 07 March 08 March 09

Knee high scrapable.  Will die out soon.  The rest of the week look dismal.

FLAT SCREEN T.V. FOR SALE, $250 !!!!!

Went running yesterday evening in Boca, and was surprised to find a small knee high swell.  Well, it's gone now.  Nothing but lameness in the forecast.

List night's 10 to 15 breeze just wasn't enough. No surf now.  No  surf this weekend and no surf next ... well, let's stay optimistic.

FLAT SCREEN T.V. FOR SALE, WAS $250, IS $225 !!!!!

March 10 March 11 March 12

More of the same.   Unrideable.

Leftover wind swell breaking in the ankle to knee high range.   Beleive it or not, we might have some rideable chop in the early part of next week.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Maybe rideable somewhere but just not in these parts.  Wind should increase over the next 24 hours to, hopefully, the 15 to 20 mph range.

March 13 March 14 March 15

Waist + SE chop.   Not near as fun as the above pics make it look.  Later half of this week is looking good ...

Flat and unrideable as it has been the past six years.  I smell conspiracy!    Anyhow, do your V Day other right today. Cold front (s) are soon to arrive ....

Waist to chest high SE chop with some bigger sets. Wind is forecast to lay down today, so get it while it lasts.  Rash gaurd is recommended.  There are MOWs and chances are that you will get stung.

March 16 March 17 March 18

(T minus 7 SC days) - Last Friday post ... hard to believe.   A week from today, I'm outta here .... but shrimpcreole.com will live on!  Anyhow, maybe knee high rideable SE scraps for those with a serious jonz.  But, be forwarned, sealice are here.   I was greeted this morning by 5 or 6 itchy  bumps.   This is the earliest ever, and typically, the initial pop of lice is the worst.  Great!

(T minus 6 SC days) - Final Saturday post ... hard to believe.   A week from today, I'm outta here .... but shrimpcreole.com will live on!  Very flat now, but who knows how long it will stay that way.  West wind is on, and the cold front continues to slide through. It looks good for waves sometime this weekend ...

(T minus 2 SC days) - Final Wednesday post.  At 7:45am I walked out thinking just how sh*tty this morning's session was.  Waist high driftamushadumpaville.  Then, I said oh hell, why not do one more drift.   It's sure amazing how fast it can change. The final 20 minutes was a completely different wave. Waist to chest high and pretty darn fun, but still drifty and slamming on the inside.  Go surf.

March 22 March 23 March 24

Strong drift and $20 parking ticket buzz kill session.  Waist to chest high pounding on the inside with the strongest S drift we've had for quite some time.

(Final ShrimpCreole Post) - Bittersweet.  I never really cared for the word, and today, I'm not sure much has changed.  But, now, I do understand it's meaning.  I moved here 22 years ago, when I was a senior in High School (yes, I'm getting up there).  I started surfing a little over 10 years ago, and although I never graduated from kookhood, I certainly did get hooked. I played tennis in high school and college, and dabbled in just about every other sport (not successfully), but nothing has touched me like surfing.   As is said all to often, it's a way of life.  We live it and can't seem breath in enough of it.  OK, I'm rambling.   Six years ago, I decided I wanted to learn how to publish websites, and after banging it around for a while and with the help of a few kind souls (thanks Geoff!), shrimpcreole.com was born.   I never thought it would grow into what it is today.  Although the site in itself is simplistic (purposely so), it's user base is quite large.  I can confidently say it's probably the largest surfing website in South Florida (over 60,000 unique hits / month), except for maybe Dade County Surf.   The reach of the site is amazing, and can't get over how it has touched people from the West Coast to the Great Lakes .... all the way to our solders in Iraq.  As you know, I have persistently refused advertising of any sort (beyond my own ventures or my crew).   Shrimpcreole will never sell out.  The site is for the peeps!  Perhaps I'm a little borderline obcessive about it, but I've made part of what I am; what I do ... like a job ... well one that you enjoy ... kinda like what I said a few lines back, about surfing as a way of life.  I have made many good friends in the water and on the net.  Well, today, I move to Destin, FL.   I will miss South Florida, but most off all, I will miss you all.  Today, Chris is crowned the Creole King.  I don't think I need to say how dedicated he is to the sport.  But, you do need to know that he is equally committed to maintaining both shrimpcreole.com and southfloridasurf.com.  He is the man!  Don't sweat it. Both sites live on! They are going no where.   I am.  But, I will be sticking my head in from time to time. See ya guys / girls .....

OH yeah, as for today's surf.   Thigh to waist high power slam chop.  All pics by Andy!

March 24, 2:45 pm: Shrimp missed a good back yard longboard session. Knee to waist with some bigger sets and some LOOONG rides. Big thanks to Steve and Moni for taking the photos.

Looks like our chop fest might stick around for a couple more days.

March 27, 8:30 am: Again with the knee to waist with bigger sets. The forecast is for the winds to start decreasing soon. Unless you've had your fill, GO GET SOME!!!

Gallery from this morning.

March 28 March 29 March 30

March 29, 8:30 am: Surprisingly there is a swell underneath the chop. Some of the set waves were up to chest high. The sandbar I chose has been chewed up from the past two weeks of surf, making it hard to get a good ride. Go hunt down a good sandbar at the right tide and you might score.

Above pics by LIQUID!! Check out the new flash site I designed for him. (WORK IN PROGRESS!)
