Flatness. Today's pics shot from the surface of the moon. If you are a Boca local, you know exactly what crater I was on. One of SALSA's favorites... Lake Atlantic. Trippy warm. Yellow haze on the horizon??? Flat, flat, flat plus my web host is dead...

One foot wind ripple and that's about it. Big planes fying over. Proud to be an American! Plenty of entertainment on the beach in South Florida this weekend, more so on some beaches than others. One foot chop. Unrideable. East winds predicted to blow from the E @ 10mph for the next 4 days. Saw some guys catching short desparation rides yesterday at Palmetto. Maybe again later today if that's your thing. Yesterday all over again. E winds @ 10 -15mph. Light chop. Plenty of sea grass. Looking like sea lice soup. Maybe something if you're really really really jonzing to get wet.

SALSA "scratch" continental breakfast session. What did not look rideable from shore turned fun once wet. Consisent knee high with thigh sets every five minutes. One little wind wave after another. Felt a little itchy but so far so good. Should hold through the day and tomorrow morning. Get out there and get some!!! All pics are of the Boca surf legend, Seacliff.

SALSA sunrise session. Carbon copy of yesterday's conditions with the addition of sealice. Looks completely unrideable from the sand. Fun knee to occasional thigh high Scooby Snacks. Joe Weather has it sticking around another day. Grab some while you can.

Nope, not flat yet. SALSA landed on the Boca beaches this morning for a knee high jonzer session. Best initially with an occasional thigh high set wave. High tide filled in shortly after sunrise mushing it out turning waves to knee thigh or less, but still rideable. Marine forecast shows little waves holding through the week. Sea lice factor - low, one or two additional bumps.

Although Kevin was declared victor in today's competition vs. Steve due to Steve's "no show" status (heard he was up all night ... nerves), Flipper was crowned King Of Shrimp Peak with his impressive wave choice and heralded drop in or die ability. Fun waves this morning. Best of the week. Consistent thigh with rare bigger sets. Lice factor - non existent. Winds picking up tonight tomorrow. Surf is here.

Presently, well, it's one of those you should have been there a couple hours ago deals. Unrideable on the inside and mushy thigh plus on the outide. From 10 - 1 it was thigh to waist on the inside and chest high on the outside. Fun, fun, fun, fun. Great time with SALSA bros. Wind still blowing I'm sure it'll pick back up. Tuna Shake riding the inside in all shots.

Wind cranking. Surfed mid-afternoon and evening. Afternoon low tide was waist high and dumping on the inside. Not fun at all. Chest high and rough paddle on the outside. Had the coast gaurd called out on me ..... long story. Surfed with Seacliff in the evening. Fun waist high but still kinda dumping.

Waist high. Still fun although not as good as the past few days, but who am I to complain. Seven days straight in May. Nice! Looks to die today and perhaps return later in the week so catch some now if you can.

Overcast, humid and flat. Marine forecast looks up for mid-week chop.

The final element has been added to the summer mix - afternoon storms. We're doomed. Flatness prevails, for the short-term. Wind forecast to pick up today. Probably surf before sundown. Looking very up for Thursday morning session.

Could there be any better way to start the day than paddling out before sunrise with Monster screaming, "OUTSIDE!!!!"??? Consistent waist high sets on the outside. Don't get caught on the inside. The paddle can be a challange.Get some.

Residual wind waves. Knee to occasional max thigh high shore pound. Rideable short drops into ankle high water. Beats sleeping in any day. Sequence of Kevin showing how it's done.

Ran SR Park. Felt like Superman running North then I turned ..... whew is that SSE wind cranking! Lightening, thunder, the whole summer shabang. Great day for kite boarding (above pics). Barely rideable shore break in spots.

Dreary. Unrideable. Winds SSW @ 5mph. Marine forecast shows rideable chop Tuesday - Friday!!!! Rest up.

Holy shit! There's swell!!! Glassy. Mostly knee to thigh and dumping. Waist high mid-break set every fifteen minutes. Heard it was head high in Palm Beach. HHHHHIIIITTTT IIIIITTTT NOOOWWW!!!
Sweeet!!! SALSA landed this morning in Delray. Solid waist to waist plus near glassy waves. Almost no wind. Beautiful surf. Sets every five minutes or so. Shot over 100 pics (going to be busy tonight). Monster, sorry about the cut off on your last wave. Pottsie got the photo proof. On drive back SR Park was looking nice at thigh to waist. Good video today, below. Great day to be sick ..

May 23 - Typhoon Lagoon

Residual unrideable crud / mid-week buzz kill. Barely even LBable and certainly not worth the trip. Maybe at lower tide. Pics shot at Delray. Boca looked much the same. Still hope for new NE pulse Thursday and Friday.

Almost didn't go out this morning. From shore things look drifty, choppy and sloppy. Looks can be deceiving ... somewhat. Paddled out with Johnny Quest and Rhett on the #1 shaped Pottsie board (now in shaper's retirement). Outside was a blast. Consistent waist to chest underlying swell wave bonanza. Low to moderate S drift. Did not want to come in. Real fun stuff. After paddling in decided to give the inside a go for a quick 15 minutes session. Inside was anywhere from thigh to waist plus and dumping hard in four inch deep water with a moderate to strong S drift. Also, picked up a fair share of red welts which I'm hoping are jellyfish, not lice. Go surf!!!!

Holy crap is it fun out!!! Awesome session this AM. Surfed the inside with Monster, Flipper & Johnny Quest (Rhett on camera ... banged up from yesterday's session). Consistent waist to chest fast breaking mackers. Regular potpourri of ocean friends out in the water. Jellyfish galore (I have probably close to 30 welts), a stray turtle and .... plus the gratuitous dorsal fin (what's a session without one). Yes, you will get stung by something but today's surf is very much worth the pain and itch. ShrimpC in left pic and Flipper in center and right pic.

Great day for cooking out, being with family and, most importantly, remembering those who have sacrificed defending our freedom. Leave the board at home. Surf is dying fast. Maybe knee, max thigh high breaking on the sand. Certainly not worth a fresh batch of sea lice.
Surfed thigh to waist wind chop with Flipper. Light S drift. Mostly closing out on the inside, as you can see in the pics of Flipper above. Outside mushy and not closing out as bad. Plenty of stinging creatures in the water, including lice. Nothing special. If you have the day off and nothing else going on, why not. If you're at work, trust me you're not missing much.

May 31

Sweet thigh high leftovers session this AM in Delray with Kevin and Rhett. Light offshore winds with residual wind swell on painted glass. Did get pulverized by jellfish, but who really cares when there's waves. Great time. No one out! Kevin tearing it up in middle and right shot. SC in left shot. You snooze / you ....

Summer has arrived. Flat!
SE breeze at 10 - 15mph. Loggable knee high shore dumpage. Waves fizzling in the mid-break. If you happen to have your LB in the back of the truck, you may want to splash around. If not, forgetaboutit.
